FemaleAbout Arlene Harden
Nurse Practitioner Arlene Harden DNP, MBA, ANP-BC, MS, BSN, PhD, believes that healthcare – for any patient, in any setting, at every level – comes from inspiration.
“I’ve always been inspired to help people all my life,” says Harden. “From an early age, some of my first memories involve a desire to help people. As an adult, I had a son with Cerebral Palsy who blessed my life for 4 years to an unbelievable level by having us rely on each other: I was his voice, his eyes, ears, legs, and everything that he needed. To me, serving my patients is the same: an opportunity to be a servant to others who need medical care, from the smallest to the most complex issues.”
Harden has a wide range of experience, education, and expertise – spending years in general surgery, as well as building a background in cardiac, medical and surgical intensive care units, in the quality department and with inpatient hospitalists. This experience is what led her back to family practice because it offers a chance to use her skills to help everyone from infants to the elderly.
Her diverse background is what makes Harden’s practice unique. She has experience in treating patients with everything from acute and chronic illnesses such as high blood pressure, diabetes, lung disease, coronary artery disease, and chronic pain to skin rashes, hernias, and wellness procedures like Botox, dermal fillers, weight loss management, IV hydration, hormone replacement therapy, and estrogen/testosterone replacement therapy.
Despite offering so many services to patients, Harden’s personal connection with each one is what makes the difference in someone’s care, and in their life. “Being personal with each patient, communicating and listening to each patient, is vital,” Harden says. “Learning their likes and dislikes, remembering something about them, and not having my only interaction with them come by looking at their chart means building personal relationships. Those last much longer and build credibility and confidence, and we develop mutual respect with each other.”
Harden attended the University of Missouri, earning her degrees in Biology and Nursing before attending a number of post-graduate programs:
- Texas Women’s University-MS in Nursing-Certified Nurse Practitioner
- University of Texas-Arlington-Doctor of Nursing Practice
- University of Texas-Tyler-Master of Business Administration
- Trident International University-Doctor of Philosophy-Epidemiology
- University of Texas-Arlington-Post Masters Certificate-FNP-In progress
When she’s not working, Harden enjoys traveling, bowling, TopGolf, trying new foods, and experiencing different cultures through my travels. Ennis is her next adventure, and she’s thrilled to be here.
